About Basan
Tucked neatly into the ground floor of the historic Eddystone and a mere stone's throw from Little Caesar's Arena, Basan is a marriage of distinctive food and inimitable beverage with a lifestyle of hospitality.
The name is derived from a mythological fire breathing rooster, an allusion to fare cooked over the fiery breath of the robata grill in the heart of our kitchen.
Located at 2703 Park Ave, Detroit, MI 48201, Basan operates as a restaurant serving Detroit in Michigan. This page gathers the practical details people usually look for before visiting: where it is, how to reach it, when it opens and how customers rate it.
This group covers the non-Asian restaurants, cafes, bars and food businesses that also appear in a mixed-cuisine food scene, including American diners, pizza, Mexican food, burgers, steakhouses and bakeries. Standard US restaurant norms apply: lunch and dinner service with a quieter stretch between, cards and tap-to-pay accepted almost everywhere, and a tip of 15-20% customary for table service. Fast food and quick-service counters expect payment up front and tipping is optional. Bars check ID for anyone who looks under 30, and the drinking age is 21 nationwide. Many restaurants in this group take reservations online through third-party platforms, while casual and fast-food spots are walk-in only. Sales tax is added at the register on top of the menu price and varies by city and state, so the final total is usually a few percent higher than the posted prices suggest.
Hours are published for 7 days a week. On most of those days it is open 4β11 pm. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. The listed phone number is (313) 481-2703. Many businesses also reply to text messages on the same number if it is a cell phone. Its website is basandetroit.com, where you may find menus, price lists or booking options.
On Google it holds a rating of 4.5 out of 5 from 422 reviews, which is a strong result for a restaurant in Detroit and suggests consistent service.
Detroit is in Michigan, in the Midwest, where summers are warm, winters are cold and snowy, and most errands are done by car; businesses keep steady year-round hours with the usual holiday changes. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Detroit follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

Basan has quickly become one of my favorite restaurants in Detroit. The ambiance is incredible, and the beautifully designed space creates the perfect dining experience. Our server, Kaden, was outstanding and made the evening even more enjoyable with his attentive and friendly service. The cocktails and food were even more delicious than they looked, with every dish beautifully presented and full of flavor. From start to finish, everything exceeded expectations.

We had a great time at Basan! Great and friendly service from everyone! The food was all great with some fun and unique options. We especially loved the firecracker dip, lobster bao bun, tofu donuts, and the bacon skewers! They also gave us a little lemon treat at the end of the meal, a fun way to close out the experience! Highly recommend for a great dinner!

Food was delicious. Definitely get the tornado potato and the tofu donuts. Our server Nick was fabulous, excellent service and very personable. Will definitely come back.

The rice gnocchi was surprisingly good, and the udon was solid as well. The chicken wings were tasty with the sauce, but the chicken itself was pretty bland. Portion sizes were very small and the prices felt high, which is somewhat expected given the location. Still, if youβre not looking to spend a lot for small portions, I probably wouldnβt recommend this place.

Service was great. I also really enjoyed the cocktails and desserts (tofu donuts and soft serve), although I do think they can tone down the amount of sugar on the tofu donuts, since the sauces are sweet enough. I love the soft serve though; would probably go back just for that. Now onto the less exciting things. The bao buns are okay, but there is just way too much sauce that I couldnβt taste the lobster. And the slice of American cheese on the perch bao is interesting tooβ¦ Unfortunately they also served us *raw chicken* so even though I enjoyed the few pieces of the fried chicken that were indeed cooked (and the red sauce), I was quite upset about it overall. The staff and house manager were nice and apologized multiple times, and I understand that things happen. But I would probably tell them to make sure the chicken is thoroughly cooked next time.
